Skygate receives a Golden Dome missile-defense subcontract from Forward Edge-AI

Skygate Technologies, a Japanese defense-technology startup, has been awarded a subcontract by Forward Edge-AI, Inc., the prime contractor on the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) SHIELD program. Under the subcontract, Skygate will contribute command and control, data fusion, and zero-trust security — the core of Alayasiki, its next-generation digital defense platform — to strengthen missile defense under the U.S. Golden Dome initiative. To support the work, Skygate is opening a U.S. office in San Antonio, Texas, alongside Forward Edge-AI.

About Golden Dome and MDA SHIELD

Golden Dome is a next-generation, multi-domain missile-defense architecture designed to protect the United States and its allies against ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise-missile threats. MDA SHIELD is the acquisition vehicle behind it — a ten-year, $151 billion program spanning 19 technology areas, from AI-enabled sensing and data fusion to zero-trust cybersecurity and hypersonic tracking. Skygate takes part as a subcontractor to Forward Edge-AI under this vehicle.

What Skygate brings

Skygate's contribution centers on Alayasiki, its next-generation digital defense platform. Alayasiki integrates data from many sensors and platforms into a single common operational picture and uses AI to support commanders' decisions — with a human always in the loop: Alayasiki readies the decision; commanders make it. It connects existing command systems rather than replacing them, standing beside them, not above. Its data-centric security lets Japan and the United States share what each side needs at the right classification level, while each keeps control of its own data.

The new San Antonio office marks Skygate's first step into the U.S. market and a long-term commitment to Japan–U.S. defense cooperation.
