In February 2026, Skygate Technologies CEO Takanori Awatsu facilitated a panel discussion with Finnish companies at the Japan–Finland Dual-use and DeepTech Business Forum in Helsinki, organized by Business Finland. The forum gathered some 30 Japanese companies and institutions, from major manufacturers to startups, to deepen dual-use cooperation with Finnish partners.
Skygate was well placed to take the floor: it already has ties with Finnish companies, having hosted several of them at its own Defense Tech Day in Japan.
Dual-use and whole-of-society resilience
Finland is known for comprehensive security, the idea that national resilience rests on government, industry, researchers and citizens acting as one, so that society can withstand everything from cyberattacks to supply disruptions (Wilson Center). That outlook sits close to Skygate's own dual-use strategy, which turns capabilities matured in the defense domain toward civilian resilience as well.
Japan and Finland are deepening their cooperation in dual-use technologies such as drones and quantum. Engagements like this, company to company and leader to leader, build the trust on which future interoperability depends.
Skygate will continue to strengthen these ties with its Finnish partners.
